First ANNUAL Mpumalanga Show at MBOMBELA Stadium
The first of its kind, Mpumalanga Show will be held from 31 August to 3 September at the Mbombela stadium this year. It will be a showcase for the diverse agriculture, forestry, tourism, and wildlife offerings of the Province while also serving as a hub for innovation, collaboration, and the exchanging of ideas.
The heart of the Mpumalanga Show will be extensive Show grounds with stalls, exhibitions, workshops, active demonstrations, livestock competitions that will be established around the Mbombela stadium, on the outskirts of the capital city. There will also be fun and excitement for the whole family with unique play activities for children, an upmarket food court, farmers fresh produce market, beer tent, arts and craft stalls as well as an entertainment area. Well-known musicians such as Adam Tas, Rikus Nel and Majozi will also be in action at the Show. We are considering more entertainment for young and old to come and enjoy.
Vodacom will be sponsoring a Battle of the Bands where aspiring young rock bands will be given the opportunity to make a name for themselves. The first ever Great Mpumalanga Bake-off will be presented as part of the Show by the Woman’s Agricultural Union in conjunction with Mug and Bean Ilanga Mall and Ilanga Mall. The Province’s first Braai Master competition will be held on 1 September where Justin Bonello, the Braai Master himself, will be sifting the boys and girls from the men/women. Some of the other events that will coincide with the Show include the Mud and Guts Mountain Bike race as well as Mpumalanga’s first real fancy Polo challenge which will be held at the Mbombela stadium
During the mornings from 31 August to 1 September 2017, several practical workshops/demonstrations and seminars will be presented, covering a variety of topics around farming and wildlife management. “We would love to show our farmer’s what is out there – new technology that will help them to farm more productively, experts in different fields giving us their latest research findings. For example, the latest potato planter and many more unique innovations will be on show. The Faculty of Agriculture & Science of the University of Mpumalanga is partnering with us in this regard.” says Werner Martin, one of the organizers.
The Mpumalanga Show is destined to become one of the highlights of the Mbombela events Calendar and the organizers hope that it will grow to become a catalyst to promote trade, create jobs and boost the development of farming and tourism in Mpumalanga, importantly to spread goodwill throughout all race groups for the love of “OUR” land.
